We Improve Air Quality During Fire Restoration
Air quality is often a notable concern in office buildings after a fire. From the contaminants and smoke solids circulating to harsh odors, filtration and treatment are necessary steps. Many materials are capable of producing offensive smells when burning, including:
- Plastics
- Wood
- Accelerants
- Chemicals
- Electronics
Counteracting Harsh Malodors
Odors are one of the more challenging aspects of fire restoration in San Antonio offices. Even minor breakroom or trash flare-ups can result in pungent odors. We work first to reduce the severity of these smells with counteractant measures:
- Cleaning Surfaces – Cleaning up soot and smoke residues can greatly reduce the presence of strong malodors.
- Debris Removal – Eliminating heaped debris and smoke solids from the flooring in the affected area can also reduce the strength of smoke smells.
- Counteractant Products – Absorbent beads and granules can be placed throughout the work area to trap odor compounds and reduce the severity of smoke effects.
Removing Smoke Smells
Malodors after a fire can spread far beyond the initial ignition point. Counteractant products can only achieve so much of the desired reduction before more direct deodorization practices are necessary. With foggers and hydroxyl machines, we can help to overcome offensive smells without requiring your office to vacate.
Treating Imaginary Odors
One of the more challenging obstacles for fire restoration is the odors that might not exist. The lingering effects of fire damage can trigger "odor memory" that sticks to your staff. We must treat imagined odors (phantosmia) as directly as we overcome the actual threats to the structure.
